Warum bist du nach Deutschland gewechselt?

Ich entschied mich nach Deutschland zu kommen, weil ich die Herausforderung annehmen wollte und mich gegen Spieler beweisen, die viel besser sind als ich. Ich Liebe den Sport und will sehen, wie weit ich kommen kann. Ich möchte auch nicht, wenn ich älter bin, zurückschauen und mich fragen: „Was wäre, wenn ich nach Deutschland gegangen wäre?“

Was verändert sich dadurch in deinem Alltag?

Natürlich bringt ein Wechsel nach Deutschland große Veränderungen mit sich. In den letzten 24 Jahren habe ich in der gleichen Stadt mit allen meinen Freunden und Hobbys gelebt, die nur fünf Minuten entfernt waren. Jetzt bin ich an einen unbekannten Ort gezogen, umgeben von neuen Menschen. Dazu habe ich endlich mein Studium beendet, also benötige ich auch einen Job finden, um mein Leben in Deutschland zu supporten.

Was war dein bisher wichtigstes/schönstes Tor?

Eines meiner unvergesslichsten Tore– und sicher eines, was mir immer in Erinnerung bleiben wird- war mein Tor gegen die tschechische Nationalmannschaft bei der letzten WM-Qualifikation. Es war das erste Mal, dass ich die Möglichkeit hatte gegen eine Top 4 Floorball Nation zu spielen und es dann zu schaffen, dass erste Tor zu schießen und uns eine 1 – 0 Führung zu bescheren, war was Besonderes. Nicht nur wegen des Tors an sich, sondern auch wegen des ganzen Angriffs, der bis zum Tor wunderschön war.

Wie lief der Wechsel ab?

Meiner Meinung nach verlief der Transfer sehr reibungslos. Die Kommunikation vom Klub war die ganze Zeit klar und der Trainer hat sehr deutlich gesagt, dass er mich in seinem Team haben möchte, was natürlich fantastisch zu hören war. Mein Team in Belgien, die Fireballs Tielt, unterstützt meinen Plan komplett und standen die ganze Zeit hinter mir. Während des ganzen Transfers gab es also überhaupt keine Probleme.

Wie wird die Saison laufen, für die DJK?

Ich werde erst während der zweiten Saisonhälfte zum Team dazustoßen, weil ich in Belgien noch einige Verpflichtungen habe, die ich noch beenden muss und möchte. Das bedeutet, ich muss mich in der zweiten Hälfte an das neue Umfeld, den Spielstil und das Tempo anpassen können. Zum Glück lerne ich gerne dazu, deshalb bin ich zuversichtlich, dass das kein Problem sein wird. Ich bin auch eine sehr ehrgeizige Person und gewinne gerne. Ich komme nach Deutschland, um zusammen als Team zu gewinnen. Es wäre fantastisch, wenn wir die Saison mit einem oder zwei Pokalen beenden könnten. Natürlich gibt es viele starke Teams in der Bundesliga und es wird bestimmt nicht einfach, aber eine Sache sicher: Wir werden alles geben, was wir können!

Wieso ausgerechnet die DJK?

Ich habe lange darüber nachgedacht Floorball im Ausland zu erleben, vielleicht in Schweden oder einem anderen Land. Deutschland hatte ich nicht wirklich auf dem Radar. Tatsächlich habe ich zum ersten Mal von der DJK gehört, als mein Nationaltrainer Riku Rautiainen den Club erwähnte. Später während der WM-Qualifikation in Liepāja, bin ich ins Gespräch mit dem DJK-Spieler Nils Hofferbert gekommen, der vorschlug, dass ich vorbeischauen und ein Probetraining mitmachen sollte. So bin ich auch mit dem Team Manager in Kontakt gekommen und ungefähr einen Monat später verbrachte ich eine Trainingswoche mit dem Team.
Nach der Woche war die Entscheidung ziemlich schnell getroffen. Denn es ist ein warmes, ehrgeiziges und professionelles Team mit vielen starken Spielern. An dem Punkt war die Wahl offensichtlich. Wenn ich im Ausland spielen würde, dann bei der DJK. Während meines Aufenthalts hat mich jeder enorm unterstützt und mir seit dem ersten Training das Gefühl gegeben willkommen zu sein. Es gibt hier so viele Leute, von denen ich lernen kann und dass ich genau das, was ich gesucht habe.

Welche Superkraft hättest du gerne?

Wenn ich eine Superkraft haben könnte, würde ich mich gerne Teleportieren können. Ich habe normalerweise ein sehr beschäftigter Alltag, deshalb würde es mir viel Zeit sparen, mich direkt von dem einen zum anderen Ort zu teleportieren.

Why are you moving to germany?

I decided to come to Germany because I want to embrace the challenge and test myself against players who are much better than me. I absolutely love the sport and want to see how far I can go with it. I also don’t want to look back later in life and wonder, “What if I had gone to Germany back then?“

What is going to change in you life, because of your move?

Of course, moving to Germany also brings some major changes. For the past 24 years, I have lived in the same city, with all my friends and hobbies only five minutes away. Now I’m moving to an unfamiliar area, surrounded by new people. On top of that, I have finally finished my studies, so I also need to find a job to support my life in Germany.

What was your best/most important goal you ever scored?

One of my most memorable goals—and certainly one that will always stay with me—was my goal against the Czech Republic during the last World Championship qualification campaign. It was the first time I had the opportunity to play against a top-four floorball nation, and being able to score the opening goal and give us a 1–0 lead against the Czechs was something special. Not only because of the goal itself, but because the entire attacking play leading up to it was beautiful.

How did the change Happened?

In my opinion, the transfer process went extremely smoothly. Communication from the club was clear at all times, and the coach made it very clear that he wanted me to join the team, which was, of course, fantastic to hear. My team in Belgium, Fireballs Tielt, fully supports my move and backed me throughout the entire decision-making process. Completing the transfer was therefore no problem at all.

How good will the season be, for the DJK?

I will only join the team during the second half of the season because I still have a few commitments in Belgium that I want and need to finish first. This means I will have to adapt to a new environment, playing style, and game speed in the middle of the season. Fortunately, I am very eager to learn, so I’m confident that won’t be an issue. I’m also a very competitive person and a true winner. I’m coming to Germany to win together as a team. It would be fantastic if we could finish the season with one or even two trophies. Of course, there are many strong teams in the Bundesliga, so it certainly won’t be easy, but one thing is certain: we will give everything we have.

Why just the DJK?

For quite some time, I had been thinking about experiencing floorball abroad, perhaps in Sweden or another country. Germany wasn’t really on my radar. In fact, the first time I heard about DJK was when my national team coach, Riku Rautiainen, mentioned the club to me. Later, during the World Championship qualifiers in Liepāja, I got into a conversation with DJK player Nils Hofferbert, who suggested that I come and do a trial. That is how I got in touch with the team manager, and about a month later I spent a week training with the team.

After that week, the decision was made very quickly. I found myself in a warm, ambitious, and professional environment, surrounded by high-level players. At that point, the choice became obvious. If I was going to play abroad, it would be with DJK. Throughout my stay, everyone supported me tremendously and made me feel welcome from the very first training session. There are so many people there that I can learn from, and that is exactly what I am looking for.

What Superpower would you like to have?

If I could have any superpower, I would love to be able to teleport. I naturally have a very busy life, so being able to instantly travel from one place to another would save me a lot of time.
